  Muhammad
(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) diputerakan di kota Mekah,
Semenajung Arab pada tahun 570 sebelum masehi. Memandangkan
bapanya meninggal sebelum keputeraannya dan ibunya pula
meninggal tidak berapa lama selepas baginda diputerakan, Nabi
Muhammad
dibesarkan oleh pakciknya yang amat disegani di kalangan suku
kaum Quraish. Baginda tidak tahu membaca mahupun menulis sejak
kecil sehinggalah kewafatan baginda. Baginda dikenali sebagai
seorang yang jujur, amanah, baik hati, dan ikhlas. Sifat
amanahya menyebabkan baginda digelar Al-Ameen (Yang Amanah).
Muhammad
(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) amat suka berfikir dan baginda
membenci kerosakan akhlak dan penyembahan berhala di kalangan
masyarakatnya. Ketika berusia empat puluh tahun, Nabi Muhammad
menerima wahtu pertama dari Malaikat Jibril. Wahyu-wahyu
diturunkan selama 43 tahun dan kumpulan wahyu-wahyu tersebut
dikenali sebagai Al-Quran. was very contemplative and he had long detested the decadence and idolatry of his society. At the age of forty,

(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) received his first revelation from Allah through the
Angel Jibreel (Gabriel). The revelations continued for twenty-three years, and they are collectively known as the
Qur'aan.
Hadis
- sesuai dengan kedudukannya sebagai kata-kata Nabi Muhammad
juga dikira sebagai wahyu Allah .
Walaubagaimanapun, ianya bukan wahyu secara langsung dari
firman-firman Allah .
Sebaik sahaja baginda mulai membaca Al-Quran dan menyebarkan
kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada baginda, Nabi Muhammad
dan pengikut-pengikut awalnya diseksa oleh kaum kafir.
Penyeksaan tersebut berterusan dan menjadi semakin ganas
sehingga menyebabkan pada tahun 622 Masehi, Allah
memerintahkan mereka berhijrah. Hijrah ini berlaku dari kota
Mekah ke kota Madinah yang terletak 260 batu di utara. Peristiwa
Hijrah ini diingati sebagai tarikh bermulanya Kalendar Hijrah
Islam.
After several years,
Muhammad
(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and his followers were able to return to
Makkah where they forgave their enemies. Before Muhammad
(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) died at the age of sixty-three, the greater part of the Arabian Peninsula had become Muslim and within a century of his death, Islam had spread to
Spain in the West and as far East as China.
Among the reasons for the rapid and peaceful spread of Islam was the
truth and clarity of its doctrine. Islam calls for the faith in
only One God, Who is the only one worthy of worship.
The
Prophet Muhammad
(sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) was a perfect example of an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful, and brave human being. He was far removed from all evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of Allah and His reward in the Hereafter. In all his actions and dealings, he was ever mindful of Allah.
